How To Learn Photography
Books A lot of what I learned about photography came from absorbing the words and images inside great photography books.
How to learn photography. Im not talking about hundreds of pictures. My purpose here is not to degrade and chop up the art of photography in any way. There are too many photography concepts to understand and so much information can be overwhelming at first.
However if you want to learn something more specific youre welcome to skip ahead to a later chapter. Sure you could look at someone elses work and think thats exactly the type of photo I want to take but no two photos will ever be the sameso dont bother trying to mirror others down to the last detail. Editing has become a very important part of the work of many photographers over the years and it is clear that today post-production is a fundamental process.
Be inspired but dont copy. The basics of becoming a photographer are incredibly easy now. Dont feel like you have to reinvent the wheel every time you take a photo - learn from other peoples successes and failures and use it to improve your own photography.
For some learning how to take photos might be best accomplished by taking a class. Shutter speed aperture and ISO are the elements that combine to create an exposure. There are lots more.
Eventually you will start to develop your own style. The longer the light is exposed to the sensor the brighter the photo will be but if the shutter speed is open too long you will get motion blur on your photo. You dont need a formal education in photography.
Photographing is only part of the way you also need to learn how to edit your photos and this is also possible to learn on your own. In fact in order to really learn photography as a beginner my recommendation is to start your education by shooting in RAW and editing your images. The best way to develop your style is to keep taking photosshoot as much as you can whenever you can.
